Foundry Pig Iron P2
Foundry Pig iron is an alloy of iron with carbon and a number of other elements, which is obtained by smelting iron ore in a blast furnace. Pig iron contains constant elements (Si, Mn, S, P) and alloying elements (Cr). The chemical composition of foundry pig iron P2 is reflected in the table below.
Product Description
We offer our customers foundry pig iron of the highest quality. Our products are comply with international and European quality standards.
The main characteristics of pig iron:
- Low price;
- Hardness;
- Durability;
- High resistance against corrosion and amortization;
- High foundry properties.
Such properties of pig iron enable to use it in engineering industry, sanitaryware industry and even in casting of art objects.
HOW PIG IRON IS MADE
FIELD OF APPLICATION
The pig iron is applied in many production fields.
- Production of component parts resistant to friction;
- Pig iron can be continuously used in conditions of extremely low temperatures. Due to this property it is often used for production of machines operating in severe weather conditions;
- High foundry properties of pig iron enable to produce component parts and cast beautiful household items as well (gates, fences, kitchenware etc.);
- Due to the property to keep the heat, the pig iron is used for manufacturing of radiators and bathtubs. These household items retain their appearance for a long time and do not require restoration. For the same reason famous chefs use cast-iron utensils. Cast iron cauldrons are perfect for haricot and pilaf cooking;
- Pig iron is a porous metal. Therefore, the absorbed fats only improve the taste of dishes;
- Pig iron is durable but fragile material. Therefore, it is used for production of component parts that operate for compression but not for bending.
To provide the highest quality when produce any component part it is significant to use pig iron with required chemical composition.
The table below will help you to choose the required grade of pig iron.
Chemical Composition
Si | Mn | P | S | Cr | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Pig P2 Si | 0,1 – 0,5 | 0,2 – 0,3 | 0,1 | 0,02 | 0,1 |
