Steel Shot

Steel shot is purposed for use in wheelabrator and shot-blasting machines. It is applied for removal of scale and forging remains from the surface. Steel shot is also used for surface cleaning before painting, lacquering, galvanization, enameling and for hardening.

Product Description

Until the twentieth century, the main abrasive for removal of corrosion and scale and for grinding of foundry products as well was river sand.

Cast-iron shot replaced river sand due to its benefits: shot does not cause dust occurrence, it can be applied up to 10 cycles without renewal and it has constant fractional hardness.

Such shot could be applied for cleaning of small component parts and huge constructions as well.

In the middle of the 20th century, people began to use steel shot, which performed its abrasive functions even better.

High resistance to friction and deformation makes the steel shot suitable for multiple use (from 280 to 600 cycles depending on the grade of shot and field of application). Due to the possibility of multiple use, steel shot is very favorable in regards to production cost saving.

HOW IT IS MADE

Spherical steel shot is made of molten steel, which is subsequently subjected to thermal improvement processes – hardening and tempering.

FIELD OF APPLICATION

Spherical steel shots is a metallic abrasive with a vast scope of application. It is one of the most commonly used abrasive for metalworking. Steel shot is mainly used in automatic shot-blasting machines with rotor (cast wheels) and in cabins and decompression chambers as well.

SPHERICAL STEEL SHOT IS USED FOR :

  • Elimination of surface roughness;
  • Surface preparation for paint-and-lacquer coating;
  • Cleaning and smoothing of castings;
  • Scale removal;
  • Alignment of sharp edges in metallurgical products.

We provide quality certificates for our products.
