Nodular Pig Iron

Nodular Pig Iron is a high purity iron. It is characterized by low content of manganese, phosphorus, silicium and sulfur. This chemical composition makes pig iron more malleable during casting.

Product Description

Nodular Pig Iron is the pig iron with low content of deleterious elements, sulfur, phosphorus, manganese and silicium. Nodular Pig Iron is very impact-resistant and durable material.

HOW PIG IRON IS MADE

The defining characteristic of this group of material is the graphite form. In Nodular Pig Iron, graphite has a form of nodules as opposed to grey pig iron, which has graphite in a form of flakes. Sharp graphite flakes create point of stress concentration in the metallic matrix but rounded nodules of graphite in the structure of Nodular Pig Iron prevent cracks occurrence, thereby providing increased ductility of alloy. Due to this property, the Nodular Pig Iron often called Malleable pig iron.

FIELD OF APPLICATION

The Nodular Pig Iron is used in automotive engineering for production of vital parts and for production of extra-strong pipes as well (gas and oil pipelines, water supply system).
